Senior Sales Executive

Manage and grow existing accounts while securing new business in a specified territory. Will effectively gather intelligence on major market competitors and relay it to management in a timely fashion. Develop new business by identifying sales targets and developing print/digital solutions for clients and their agencies. Maintain current advertising accounts, follow-up on all contracts, insertion orders and change orders. Up-sell to additional space or other products. Will be required to make presentations by telephone and in person. Must be fully versed in the competitive value of the company’s information channels which include print, digital, broadcast and mobile, understand the efficiencies of niche marketing, sells value not rate and strategically proposes solutions that meet client business objectives. Must be a motivated self starter with an established book of business, strong presenter and communicator with internal and external customers and partners. Highly adept at creating new revenue opportunities from synergies between print and online. Attend trade shows and travel extensively for client sales calls is required. Knowledge of Military, Defense or Federal markets is highly desired. Seven plus years sales experience required – Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Electronic Subscription Manager

Grows and maintains e-mail databases for both paid and controlled product lines. Project lead will initiate, build, implement, track and manage integrated promotional web/email Audience Development campaigns across all GGMC titles with the goal of increasing the subscriber and prospect email databases. Responsibilities include managing a master database of customer and prospect e-mail addresses. Employs direct digital marketing techniques to grow data base. Coordinates with online staff on any technical issues involving Audience Development. Serves in a public relation capacity by representing the products and company to customers and organizations. Understands the company’s mission and their role and those of other department members in it. Is self-sufficient and proactive and works as a team player to help meet corporate goals. Contributes to a positive working atmosphere. Must have the following: Fulfillment and e-mail service provider systems experience; familiarity with behavioral data tracking; strong analytical and communication skills; 3+ solid years of HTML 4/5, CSS 2/3 and SQL experience; experience in or knowledge of the US military a plus.

News Editor

Looking for a dynamic editor to help lead a team of reporters in covering the Navy. We want a news editor who will help the managing editor put out a top-quality newspaper, week after week. That means a newspaper that delivers news before it readers get it anywhere else, including from the Navy. Our news editor must have the reporting and editing experience to help the staff target the stories our readers care about, spot trends, develop enterprise projects, and regularly break news in print and on the Web. We are loosing for someone who has an outstanding track record as a reporter and also has solid editing skills. We need someone who knows what it takes to develop sources and chase down stories so he or she can help direct others in their reporting. Must have at least five years reporting and/or editing experience. Background in covering the military or defense industry is a plus, as is military service, but not required.

Assistant Managing Editor/Interactive

Working with the Managing Editor/Shared Services, oversee execution of editorial online products and projects, from ensuring that content is posted for web delivery, to creating informative and interactive graphics, calculators and widgets for digital editorial products and helping to inspire user-generated content. Act as liaison with Digital Department on efforts to develop new sites, blogs, calculators, apps, widgets and content modules that highlight and expand upon our unique reporting capabilities. Stay current on social media trends and Web technology in order to target content delivery accordingly. Coordinate with fellow AMEs in the department to identify cross-training opportunities that both challenge staff and expand the department’s ability to efficiently meet newsroom demands.
Write and review staff performance evaluations. Work with other Gannett Government Media departments and/or media partners to achieve organizational goals. Help recruit staff and identify and develop talent within the newsroom. Contribute to budget management and planning. Perform other leadership, organizational and management assignments as needed and/or assigned. Assist senior leadership in developing existing and new products and in directing and coordinating coverage that crosses multiple staffs and platforms. Create and oversee training, staff development, and equipment for Shared Services department.
Web Editor / Off Duty+

Work independently to edit, design, code and publish online news and entertainment content for OFFDuty+, a Military Times website oriented to troops in barracks and dorms. Produce daily photo galleries and daily or weekly news videos; produces content in support of interactive promotions such as contests and events, constantly monitor wire resources, such as APExchange, to post timely news, entertainment and sports stories; select and highlight staff content from across the newsroom as appropriate for this audience; repurpose home-grown and Gannett content as needed; and monitor, track and report on website traffic and user habits, then apply that knowledge to content selection to drive more traffic. Traffic to these sites is heaviest in the evenings and weekends, so hours will follow suit: Wednesday-Sunday 10 – 6.
